Read on for a short interview with one of our Event Managers:

If you weren’t event planning, what would you be doing?: Traveling for sure! I always thought being a travel blogger would be a pretty awesome job.

What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?: I love all aspects of my job! But if I have to choose, it is between meeting new people and the planning component. I know that is a broad answer but I enjoy moving through the phases of the planning process.

How would you describe your planning style? It’s not so much about my planning style, but adapting to the client’s style. Working closely with our clients is a big component of my role, and no client is exactly the same. They each have different preferences and styles; it is important to get to know each client so that we can find a balance in planning styles that works for everyone.

What event trend are you loving right now? “Do it for the ‘Gram”! It is all about social media these days; so if an event creates a lot of buzz, then that is a great indication that guests are having a good time. I try to come up with buzz-worthy décor, F&B, and displays. Photo booths or interactive art performance are some really fun options.

Another trend I love incorporating into an event or meeting is Wellness. A work-life balance is key and when you are at a multi-day meeting, there is nothing better than a refreshing morning jog or a relaxing yoga session. We recently had morning wellness activities (jogging, yoga and meditation) incorporated into a 3-day meeting program and it was a hit! Many attendees flew in from the East Coast, so the morning exercise was a great way to kick off their day as they were already awake. Not only are wellness activities great for the body and mind, they create great camaraderie among colleagues.
